We are offering an extraordinary opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated intern to join our team in our NYC office.

Essential Duties and REsponsibilities:

 

  • Apply your academic learning in a practical setting and discover what the public accounting profession has to offer.
  • See the accounting cycle in real time and become an integral part of it.
  • Interact with peers and other professionals who have excelled in this career.
  • Work on real life tax cases and tax returns.
  • Review client’s accounting books, learn to post adjusting journal entries, and complete financial statements.
  • Conduct tax research and delve into the Internal Revenue Code and state/local tax laws.
  • Understand differences between financial accounting rules and tax accounting rules, learn to account for the differences.
  • Assemble tax workpapers and backup documents for clients’ and the firm’s records.
  • Learn to use accounting and tax software packages, enhance your utilization of spreadsheet applications.
  • Read, analyze, and prepare responses to correspondence and notices from the IRS or state & local tax authorities.
  • Prepare tax returns for individuals and business entities. Participate in tax planning.
  • Learn how U.S. tax laws interact with those of other countries.
  • Understand how tax laws affect clients’ decisions on investments and wealth-transfer planning.
  • Learn about trusts and how clients use them in tax and estate planning.
  • Assist our Tax Associates with various daily tasks and get on-the-job training from them.

Skills and Capabilities:

 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably at all levels of the organization including with senior level leaders.
  • Excellent technical skills including a strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented, dynamic and changing environment.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education and Experience:

 

  • Current undergraduate students at Junior or Senior level with studies in the areas of Accounting or Finance.
