Rene R. Verghese

(1967– 2024)

It is with profound sorrow that the Partners and Principals of Schulman Lobel announce the unexpected passing of long-time Partner Rene Rachel Verghese on March 5, 2024.

Originally from Paduthodu, Kerala, India, Rene joined the firm in 2006 and tirelessly served a diverse roster of clients in the years since. She was the Partner In Charge (PIC) of our New Jersey office, and the driving force behind our international expansion and opening of our Bangalore office.

Norm Schulman who worked closely with Rene for the past 18 years had this to say: “Rene joined the firm when there were only 9 of us and helped build the business into the thriving, 100+ individual organization it is today. She was a dynamic person and trusted friend. We will miss her terribly.”

In addition to her professional life, Rene was a devoted parishioner of St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church in East Brunswick. She was also an avid gardener and had a passion for interior decoration. Rene is survived by her loving husband, George Thomas, and their children, Nikhil and Neha.
